Young Life begins in the USA
In a town in Texas, at the request of his pastor, a young associate pastor named Jim Raybrun began showing young people how much God cares about them by showing up in their world and sharing the message of God's love through Jesus in ways and words they could understand and relate to.

Today, Young Life is a global organization with local focus. You'll find Young Life leaders from diverse cultures, nationalities and backgrounds in over 100 countries around the world.
August 2001
At the request of a group of community members from the Lincoln and Cumberland areas, Corenna Hoyt, a Young Life Area Director from New Hampshire, moved to Rhode Island to assist this group in starting Young Life locally.
September 2001
A small team begins laying the "ground work" for Young Life in our area.
February 2003
Don Ryan and Corenna Hoyt are joined by others, forming Northern RI Young Life local board to ensure integrity, longevity and direction on Young Life in NRI. Fundraising and community awareness continues.
February 2004
Young Life begins in Lincoln!
February 2008
"Northern RI" officially grows to "Rhode Island" Young Life as support for the program grows.
February 2009
Ministry focus expands to officially include students from various towns attending Davies Technical High School.
2013
Newport County Core Group established to build support for Young Life in Newport County.
